Next... Grow Stuff in the Dirt

When Grandpa was here, he got Joe started on a project.  Raised garden bed!  It seems like everyone out here has a garden and I had been talking about wanting an herb garden.  Grandpa said, "Oh, that's easy!"   Grandpa is awesome.

I may have pretended that my honey was Ty Pennington in my backyard for a few hours.  Hee, hee.

We stained it and lined it with plastic and holes for drainage and filled it with dirt and planted basil, cilantro, sage, lettuce, green peppers, and pickling cucumbers that I bought from... where else?... the Farmers Market!!  I have separately potted a raspberry vine and mountain mint!

And now I can officially join the club.  The club of Oregon Midwives!!  Because you'll never be taken seriously as a midwife in Oregon unless you grow stuff in the dirt!  While I have a history of being quite successful growing babies, my history with green plants is sort of a family joke.  I don't have the greenest thumb.  So keep your fingers crossed and pray for my little plants!
